Measure of Love
I believe one of the greatest attributes of being a Christian is our ability to respond in love, with action and compassion. I recently mentioned during one of my radio segments that Rivers of the World (ROW) was constructing a new maternity wing onto a hospital in Punta Gorda, Belize. I stated that we could sure use some strong backs and weak minds to come and help us!
Instead, we’ve got a group of bright brains and strong backs from First Baptist Church in Snyder, OK that will be heading to Belize in mid-July. I just know they will make a huge difference with this project.
It really doesn’t take much effort on our part to make a difference in a person’s life. God is faithful in putting opportunities across our path. Sometimes He asks us to sacrificially give financially to fund a project or support a missionary. At other times, He might prompt us to actually go and support a ministry overseas. At all times, He expects us to pray for those serving around the world.
When we willingly accept the challenge of a mission requiring a step of faith, we are guaranteed to be blessed beyond measure. Additionally, our lives will reflect the joy of the Lord. Seek out ways today that you can serve the Lord and help a fellow believer in need.
We have a stern reminder in 1 John 3:17 (Amplified) of how our actions should demonstrate to others our love for them and for God:
“But if anyone has this world’s goods (resources for sustaining life) and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him?”
