More Like Jesus
Have you noticed how quickly time flies when you are serving the Lord? It is hard to believe but it has been almost two years since Rivers of the World (ROW) started building the orphanage in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic (DR) of the Congo.
I recently returned from the DR of the Congo where I had an opportunity to visit with the 30 children who live in the orphanage that you helped us build. The orphanage is attached to a school that has an additional 220 children. I met with ROW’s Congo Program Directors Omba Ngandu, Shamba Akasa and Pappa Akula Mukanga. Here’s the exciting news. All of us are working together to buy books in order to establish a library at the school. Providing access to books will enable the children at the orphanage and school to learn and grow physically, spiritually and educationally. I just love it when that happens!
This is such a tremendous opportunity and I covet your prayers as we move forward in building a library and filling it with books for these precious children.
As we wait upon the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we must be diligent in learning about the One who died for our sins. If we fail to delve into His word and learn about His commands, promises and instructions, false teachers could easily lead us astray or we could wander off the straight and narrow path due to all the distractions in this world.
We are told in 2 Peter 3:18:
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”
Establishing a library will provide a means for these children in Kinshasa to learn about our Savior and will allow them to be more like Jesus. We have a vast amount of free resources in America, from online Bible studies, e-mail devotions and a host of religious ministries posted on the Internet. There simply is no excuse for Christians to lack in the knowledge of Christ and His word.
