My Heart Rejoices

Published by kclack at 9:08 pm under Blessings, Worship

It took a man in a parking lot recently to remind me that I need to be thankful even for the little things. I confess that there are times when I am so wrapped up in international issues, problems within our own government and the strange things that take place by our own administration that I overlook the little things in life.

I was sitting in my Jeep waiting on a couple members of our team who were returning from a 10-day trip to Vietnam when this guy tapped on the side of my Jeep and scared me half to death! He just wanted to know if I had any jumper cables and unfortunately, I did not. However, I was able to help him push his car and would you believe it actually started!

You should have seen this guy! All I did was help get his car started and he began jumping up and down, hollering and shouting, “Praise the Lord!” To me, it was a little bitty thing that I had done but to him it was huge and he was so grateful. He waved and cheered as he drove off and I began to think, “Today, Lord, help me to be thankful to you not only for the big things, but also for the little things that come my way.”

If there was one person in the Bible who understood what it meant to trust God in the face of adversity it was King David. In Psalm 28:7 (Amplified) we read:

“The Lord is my Strength and my [impenetrable] Shield; my heart trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on Him, and I am helped; therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.”

When we put our trust, hope and faith in God and lean upon Him in all circumstances our spirit naturally rejoices. How can you not praise Christ when you know that He will assist you with everything from finding those lost keys, healing your sick dog, comforting a loved one and providing a job? When you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you can trust someone with your very life it is easy to have peace and joy. Find at least one reason today, and every day, to praise God.
