Not Finished

[ 0 ] April 25, 2011 |

The pretty dresses are hung back up in the closet, ham and other leftovers are in the refrigerator and the memories of another Easter are tucked away in our minds. We just celebrated Good Friday, the darkest day in Christian history and Resurrection Sunday, the most glorious day for all Christians.

When Christ surrendered His life on the cross He said, “It is finished.” Jesus’ work, providing a way of salvation for all mankind, was completed that day at Calvary. However, when we accept Christ as our Savior, our work just begins.

We are reminded in Matthew 24:42 (Amplified):

“Watch therefore [give strict attention, be cautious and active], for you do not know in what kind of a day [whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming.”

As we wait for our Lord’s return, we are to be vigilant in our praying and active in our serving. Christ arose from the grave and He sits at the right hand of the Father not merely so that we can one day join Him. He desires that we be equipped with His power to lead as many people into the fold as possible.

All the festivities of Resurrection Sunday are over, but our work here on earth for Christ remains. Let us choose today to demonstrate in all that we do and say that Christ has risen and He is alive!
