Paying the Price
What are you willing to pay for a gallon of gas, a loaf of bread or even a good cup of coffee? After spending a month in Iraq, I began to ponder what price we as Americans are willing to pay for things. The price for freedom in Iraq is paid daily in lives lost and people displaced from their homes as many Iraqis struggle in their quest for democracy. I had a wonderful opportunity during my stay in Iraq to broadcast radio in that part of the world.
I was also blessed to have been able to spend time with my son, who is a young lieutenant in the Marines. He is the executive officer of Kilo Company. We went on patrols together, lived together, prayed, and worshipped our Lord together.
Throughout that experience the thought that kept crossing my mind was, “What price are we Americans willing to pay for freedom? What price are we willing to pay to have this land the way we have it today? What price are we willing to pay?’
I ask you, what stand are you willing to take to see that you, your children, and your children’s children are free? To understand true freedom we must accept the Son of God. In John 8:36, it says:
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
We can only experience genuine freedom by accepting Christ as our personal Savior. Only He can break the chains that bind us and set us free from the bondage of sin. Today, share the freedom you have in Christ with others, while you still have an opportunity to do so.
