Praying God’s Protection
The argument had escalated to the point of violence. I was standing around a 55-gallon drum, which contained a fire. We were trying to stay warm at a combat outpost in Northern Iraq.
Sgt. E. was holding court and was asking everyone a very serious question. “Who is a better dancer—John Travolta or Patrick Swayze?” My friend, Chris, answered Travolta and that started a rumble.
It was just amazing. This question will never be solved unless these two men are willing to travel to Iraq and dance for the troops. These young Marines were arguing about that to keep their minds off the war. Personally, I think that is just fine.
As we come before the Lord today, let us take time to remember our men and women who are serving sacrificially in the military and especially those who are serving in harms way. Today, let us offer up in prayer this assurance from Psalm 32:7:
“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.”
May these brave men and women find shelter in God’s protection and be delivered from all harm today, and in the long days ahead. Even if we are not fighting an enemy abroad, all of us have our own “wars” that we battle. Today, may you find rest, comfort and refuge in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
