Precious in His Sight
As the beginning of this new year unfolds, there are two things that I would like to tell you. First, happy New Year!
The second thing that I want to tell you is…it is time. It is time to finally pick it up, put it down, take a step or get over it—it was a long time ago. Let me encourage you to write that check to support that ministry, pick up the phone and call that family member or sit down at the computer and write that letter to your friend. While you are at it, call your pastor and see how you can get involved with your church.
Let this be the year that you finally decide that you are of worth to the Kingdom of God. Once you make that decision, take the next step and choose to offer yourself to the Lord in some wonderful way in 2008. Set out to discover the person God created you to be and you will find in the process that this will be the most exciting and fulfilling year that you have ever experienced.
If you ever get to the point that you question why God created you in the first place and you begin to doubt that you even have a purpose this side of heaven, I would encourage you to read Psalm 139. Let me share with you a few Scriptures from that chapter, verses 15-18, which says:
“My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I am still with you.”
You are so precious in His sight that He knew you before you were even born and He saw each trial, each heartache, each success—all your days before you took your first breath. If He loved you that much then, just imagine how much He loves you now—now that you are experiencing the life He granted you. He gives each of us daily the most precious gift—the opportunity to know Him.
I just wanted to say that I almost had to pull the car over on the NYS Thruway on my way home when I heard this on K-Love. It was one of the answers to a prayer I had been praying for over a year–a year of darkness and fear for me. Satan had camped out on my door step and shadowed my whole house. Well, I had been praying for release from this and for God to show me what He wanted me to do with all my gifts and talents. I was still really scared of His answer but now I think I know and have really had tremendous joy in my life these past couple of weeks! I feel like a completely new person! Thank you so much for sharing this.
