Prepare Our Hearts
Guess what I just discovered? I found three more words that can dramatically change your life and I want you to incorporate these words in everything you do during this Holy Week. Christians around the globe are celebrating Holy Week, which is the week before Easter that includes Palm Sunday, Good Friday and the last day of Lent, the day before Easter.
Throughout this seven-day period I want you to bury three simple, but profound words in your heart—thank you Jesus. During this week, whenever you feel sad, overjoyed, fearful, frustrated, angry, content or concerned, I want you to say, “Thank you Jesus.” It’s quite easy when things are going great in our lives to praise the Lord, but, saying these three words becomes a sacrifice when our world is turned upside down. Instead of wallowing in despair, worry or concern, try thanking Christ this week, the week before we observe Easter.
May I remind you that when praises go up, the blessings come down. Take time during this Holy Week to prepare your heart to get ready to celebrate Easter by daily thanking Jesus. No matter what you are facing today, you still have many reasons to offer a sacrifice of praise to Christ. Let me give you just a few reasons to thank Him each day. If you were able to get out of bed today, were able to find food in your refrigerator and were able to drive to work, you have reason to say thank you Jesus. If you were able to hear the sweet sounds of laughter from your children, feel a hug from your spouse, see the brilliant hues of color as the sun rose this morning, then you have reason to thank God.
In Hebrews 13:15 we read:
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess his name.”
Each day we need to purify our hearts in preparation to offering praises unto Jesus throughout the day. We do this through our times of prayer and by asking Christ to give to us eyes to see His hand upon our lives, ears that are sensitive to His voice and a heart full of understanding and wisdom.
