Proclaim His Blessings
It is that time of the year that we look forward to a new year and we reflect on the year that has gone by. There are about three things that stand out in my mind when I look back upon the radio ministry of Rivers of the World (ROW) in 2008. First and foremost is the abundant care and concern our radio listeners showed me and my wife, Mickie, during her recent battle with cancer. She is still fighting this battle so please continue to pray for her and for all those enduring similar situations.
The other two things that stand out in my mind from 2008 both center around the children of Kinshasa in the DR of the Congo. Radio friends, you helped ROW build an orphanage for 30 children and you provided a way for us to have a well dug, which provides clean water to 250 children and their families. I think this is just amazing!
With New Year’s Eve approaching, let’s take time to look back over 2008 and give thanks and praise to God for all His many blessings. Let’s also take time to celebrate the wonderful year to come, for we know who holds tomorrow.
We are instructed in Psalm 105:1-3 to:
“Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.”
Regardless if you experience a miracle of God today or receive a tremendous blessing from the Lord, you still have so many reasons to proclaim to others the goodness of Jesus Christ. Sunshine in the midst of winter in the West is a reason to give thanks to the Lord. An opportunity to spend with family and friends during the Christmas season is a reason to praise the Lord. Beginning the New Year with a job is certainly a reason to tell others how wonderful Jesus is and to continue to sing praises to His name.
Let me encourage you to begin each day with an attitude of gratitude. Find at least one thing each day to thank the Lord for and then tell someone about Christ’s goodness.
