Recharge Your Spiritual Batteries
I am surprised I did not throw a breaker switch on my electrical panel recently because it seemed as if I had something plugged into every available outlet in my home! Just a few days ago I was preparing for a trip to Peru, followed by a trip to Venezuela after a short respite at home.
In order to prepare for both trips, I had to recharge all my batteries. Throughout my house were rechargeable batteries plugged into every available outlet. I have batteries for the walkie talkies, the Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), for the computers, GPS devices and the cameras. It takes time to recharge all these batteries. It also takes time for us to recharge our spiritual batteries before we head out to do the work of the Lord.
If I had neglected to recharge the batteries in all my devices, I would have been stuck in the jungles of Peru with no way to communicate, no way to navigate and no way to document the trip. Likewise, if we fail to reenergize our spirits, we will lack the power, wisdom and effectiveness necessary to carry out the plans of the Lord.
After Jesus was resurrected, He spent 40 days teaching His disciples. They learned about the power of the Holy Spirit, which was promised to them by Christ when He returned to His heavenly home. In Acts 1:8 the disciples were told:
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Just like the disciples, we, as followers of Christ, can tap into the power of the Holy Spirit. This power enables us to have boldness and courage to witness for Christ. The Holy Spirit fills us with confidence in the authority we have through Jesus. He further equips us with wisdom and discernment to face whatever lies ahead in our lives. Today, seek to receive power from the Holy Spirit and then go into your world and accomplish great and mighty things in the name of Jesus Christ.

Thanks so much for reminding me to feed my spirit. Your timing was so perfect. I need all the strenghth the Lord can send me, but sometimes I forget to ask.
Isabelle,
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to this devotion. I praise the Lord for Him using it to minister to you during your time of need. God indeed knows what you have need of, but, as a measure of faith and trust, He does want us to ask Him to meet our needs. Praying God’s blessings upon you today!
Blessings, KClack
