Recognition

[ 0 ] October 25, 2010 |

My favorite thing that I love most about being on the radio has taken place in North Carolina, Georgia, Nebraska and now in Kentucky. I was sitting in a booth in a restaurant in Kentucky visiting with some friends recently. A lady behind me turned around and tapped me on the shoulder.

Shelley, as I later learned was her name, said, “Are you on the radio?” I said, “Yes, ma’am, I am.” She continued, “I listen to you all the time. You just lift up my day. God bless you! Thank you for sharing the love of Jesus over the radio.” Shelley then promptly went back to eating her pancakes!

If you see or hear me, or someone with Rivers of the World (ROW), out in public, we would just love it if you would stop us and say hello. We enjoy being recognized and we love to hear how you enjoy the positive and encouraging message that we try to share every time we have an opportunity to speak on the radio.

If anybody should have been recognized it was Jesus. Prophesy after prophesy pointed to the coming Messiah, yet, when He finally arrived, His very creation failed to recognize Him. Read John 1:10:

“He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.”

Although Christ wasn’t recognized as the Son of God, He made a way for His children to be identified by the world. If Jesus dwells within you, then you will be known as a follower of Christ by the fruit you bear as it is stated in Matthew 7:16-17:

“By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.”

Today, bear fruit that draws others to the foot of the cross where they can meet the Savior who died so that they may have life.
