Reflect Christ
Okay, guys, be honest, don’t you just love to go shopping? I’m sure I already know your answer! I fell off the fashion train years ago. But, my wife, Mickie, is currently living overseas so I have no choice but to do my own shopping. You would have been proud of me recently…I know I was! I went and bought a brand new white shirt and a thing called a Henley. It’s basically a collarless pullover shirt.
It was a bit cool when I went to preach at a men’s breakfast in Dallas, Ga. so I wore my new dark maroon Henley over my bright white shirt. When I got there I took off the Henley only to discover that my white shirt was now covered in maroon Henley fuzz. It looks like I’ve ruined my brand new shirt. After we had a good laugh, I tried to remind the guys that what’s inside of us matters and not what is on the outside.
I have no idea what to do with my white shirt, but I do know that if my heart is right with the Lord, than that is all that matters. I hope and pray today that the love that you have for Jesus is shining from deep inside of you to everyone you meet.
The next time you look in the mirror, think of Proverbs 27:19:
“As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.”
Just as water, and a mirror, have a way of reflecting the true image it is portraying, so too does our hearts have a way of honestly revealing the very depths of what lies within. Feed your mind with the things of God and your heart will naturally be filled with His image.
