ROW Needs You!

Published by kclack at 10:55 pm under Belize, Countries, Serving

My buddies from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia recently joined me in Punta Gorda, Belize where we added a wing onto the local hospital. We poured 100 tons of concrete to create a second floor on the new maternity wing.

I cannot think of a better way to begin a new year than to construct a maternity wing that will serve as a place to welcome new babies born in that part of the world. While in Belize, our team also traveled to Crique Sarco to share clothes, caps and love with children from the village.

Do you have any plans for a vacation this year? If not, I’ve got a great idea how you can combine traveling and serving others. Rivers of the World (ROW) coordinates trips all across the globe each year and we are always in need of volunteers. We need you in Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, and several other countries.

There is a sense of satisfaction that comes with creating or building something with our hands. The Apostle Paul was a tentmaker by trade and he used his work to support himself and others who traveled with him as he journeyed to preach God’s word. He reminded the Ephesian elders the importance of being a blessing to others. Read Acts 20:35:

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Let me encourage you to make a point this year to put your talents, experiences and free time to good use by being a blessing to others.
