Satisfied
Sometimes I think a chicken is nothing more than a turkey that just hasn’t grown up! If you are in the chicken or turkey business, please don’t be offended by that! I am simply trying to encourage people to be thankful this Thanksgiving.
I realize many families are struggling economically and they may not be able to afford a typical Thanksgiving meal. If you are unable to buy a turkey this year then just purchase a chicken, or even a Cornish hen, and give thanks. I have learned that the greatest biblical axiom that we must cling to these days is three simple words, “Thank you Jesus.”
Lift up your praises to the Lord and just see if He doesn’t shower you with blessings. A beautifully cooked chicken is quite a blessing if you can’t bake a turkey in the oven. If you have any food whatsoever and are able to share it with family or friends in a warm home than you have many reasons to praise Jesus this Thanksgiving holiday.
From all of us at Rivers of the World (ROW), we hope and pray that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that you begin and end the day with three simple words, “Thank you Jesus.”
As David was hiding from his enemies in the Desert of Judah, he cried out to God longing to be quenched by His presence. In Psalm 63:5, David said:
“My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.”
Overindulging on food is quite common during Thanksgiving. No matter how much food we digest, we will still grow hungry again in due time. As this year comes to a close, take some time to reflect upon the goodness of God and choose to be filled and satisfied with Christ alone.
