Seed to the Sower

[ 0 ] March 21, 2009 |

One of the funniest people I know is my brother, Dr. Gordon Mathes of Rocky Mount, N.C. He called me recently to tell me that he was communicating with me by the miracle of wireless telephone. We had a good laugh and it reminded me that during these difficult financial times there is another option for me to drop by your church.

This past winter I got snowed in and wasn’t able to travel to a church in Eden, N.C. to preach. Instead of appearing live to the congregation, the church simply hooked me up via wireless telephone and I was able to deliver my sermon from the comforts of my home in Georgia. You should have seen me walking around my house, looking off in the distance and trying to make my points to an invisible audience!

If you would like to invite me to your church to preach by using the wonderful technology of wireless telephone, simply contact me at ben@row.org. Let’s get together, share God’s word and praise the Lord.

God gives us an assurance that when His word goes forth it will not come back void, regardless if it is delivered in a church, via the Internet or by wireless telephone. The prophet Isaiah compares God’s word to rain and snow that falls from heaven. The precipitation waters the earth and brings forth life. We read in Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV):

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

When we share scripture with a friend, when a preacher delivers a sermon and when we kneel at an altar and pray with someone according to God’s word, seed is being sown that will eventually bring forth fruit. Go forth today and sow seeds in the hearts and lives of others in the name of Jesus.
