Shine Brightly
Taking away our language capabilities makes life rather interesting. I discovered this recently while spending time in the Middle East. I felt so lost. There was nothing but desert and no jungles. I do jungles, remember?
It was sort of difficult for me to find my way and over and over again I was met by angels unaware. People who didn’t speak my language, who have a different faith, who looked and dressed differently than I do somehow realized that it was okay to approach a stranger and offer a caring, guiding hand, or to point and smile, or to even pick up things that I had dropped.
These kind gestures really touched my heart. With a brand new year under way I want to encourage you to keep your eyes open each day and look for ways that you can demonstrate the unconditional love of Jesus that goes beyond language, cultures, and any other barrier, showing that you care in the name of Christ.
When we accept Christ as our Savior and allow Him to rule and reign in our lives, it will automatically become apparent to everyone around us by the way we talk, our actions, our motives and simply the way we choose to live our lives. We are reminded by Jesus in Matthew 5:14-16:
“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”
Do you love Christ? Then show it today in a very tangible way by helping someone in need.
