Spread the Good News!

I might be wrong but it sure seems that retailers have held off a little longer than usual with advertising for Christmas. I don’t feel quite as bombarded by all the Christmas merchandising as I have in the past. Personally, I think this is fantastic! I would rather focus upon my personal relationship with the Lord and on my appreciation for the birth of baby Jesus in Bethlehem than to worry about what extravagant present I’m going to buy someone.

Christians nowadays should go all out during the Christmas season to extravagantly share the Christmas spirit and to do so with tremendous joy. What I mean by that is we should not be afraid to hang a wreath on our doors, place a nativity scene in our yards or be afraid to wish everyone we meet a Merry Christmas. After all, that is the real reason we celebrate the season!

Let’s take time this Christmas to demonstrate as much awe and excitement as the shepherds expressed on that night so very long ago. Read Luke 2:10-14 (NKJV) and visualize all the joy:

“Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: ‘Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!’”

The greatest gift you can give anyone this Christmas is sharing the good news that Christ was born, He was crucified for our sins and He lives in the hearts of those who have accepted Him as their Savior.
