Storms of Life
Many residents along the Eastern Seaboard are accustomed to the affects of a hurricane. Hurricane Jeanne, which struck in September 2004, resulted in widespread devastation in the Caribbean and sections of the Southeast United States. As a tropical storm, Jeanne destroyed much of the country of Haiti through massive flooding and mudslides. Over 3,000 deaths in Haiti resulted from this storm.
In one particular village we visited, there was so much destruction that for all the villagers knew the whole world had disappeared. The customary one-hour trip from the local hospital to this village suddenly required an entire day. When we arrived in the village after the eight-hour journey, we witnessed something absolutely amazing.
The survivors in that village had gathered in a clinic on the day Christian relief was to arrive. Despite the horrific devastation, these survivors believed we would show up no matter what…and by the grace of God, we did.
You may live by yourself, yet, you are never alone. In the storms of your life, you can trust and believe Christian brothers and sisters will arrive during your hour of need to provide comfort, love and support.
In Galatians 6:2, Paul instructed fellow believers to:
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
