Strong in Weakness
Have you ever noticed that you can tell a lot about folks by the way they handle themselves in tough times? I have friends who are walking so close to the Lord that they can take the most difficult of circumstances and joyfully be a witness throughout the whole experience. It is just amazing and a real blessing to be around people like that.
On the flipside, I have other friends who also love the Lord but for some reason they forget to convey that to their face. When difficult times come their way they make sure everybody knows that they are just suffering miserably. It is just a downer being around these people. I’m sorry but there really is no nice way to say this.
I was recently stuck on a boat, we were heading up the river through a jungle and it was hot and buggy. When it wasn’t hot and buggy it was absolutely pouring rain. One of the ladies in the boat, Muniaquita had an awful expression on her face and she proceeded to let everyone know just how much she was suffering.
Does the world seem tough for you right now? You just need to buck up a little bit and realize that the Lord is on your side and with Him in control of your life, everything will turn out fine.
Do you recall the Apostle Paul’s account of his thorn in the flesh? God’s word doesn’t reveal what the thorn was but we know it was something that bothered Paul enough for him to cry out to God and plead with Him three times that it be removed from his life. When God kept the thorn in Paul’s life, he discovered that when he was at his weakest point, that is when he was truly strong. We read in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (Amplified):
“But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).
Whatever you may be struggling with today, I pray that you come to the powerful realization that in Christ’s strength, which resides within you, there is nothing too difficult for you to bear.
