Thank You

Oh, my, this could be the “big one!” I live in Dixie, more specifically Georgia, and it just started to snow. When it snows even just a little bit in the South people make a mad dash to the hardware store and buy everything they ever dreamed of buying. People also rush to the grocery store to stock up on staple items, as I did. I just bought 18 loaves of bread, three gallons of milk, four gallons of water and enough toilet paper to wrap the whole neighborhood. I am now prepared and just waiting for the snow to pile up in case this is the “big one.”

Isn’t it funny the way we respond to things? Let me ask you today, how do you respond to blessings in your life, not adversities, but blessings? When the Lord does something good for you, do you just say thank you Lord and charge ahead or do you wonder what is going to happen next?

When you receive a promotion at work, do you pat yourself on the back and get prideful thinking you deserved the promotion based upon your outstanding abilities? When you are appointed to be in charge of something at church do you automatically assume it was because of your wonderful talents? We must realize that all good things come from the Lord. We are nothing apart from God.

The next time you are inclined to take credit for anything good that comes your way, read Psalm 44:8, which says:

“In God we make our boast all day long, and we will praise your name forever. Selah.”

We should not only thank the Lord for all our many blessings each day, but we should also simply thank Him for His love, grace, mercy and forgiveness.
