The Job Is Not Done

[ 2 ] March 20, 2010 |

“Well, you know in these tough economic times we are just not sure how many people will show up for the conference.” That is what my friend said at the beginning of organizing a conference for church planters. In fact, the organization is called churchplanters.com.

Organizers estimated around 400-500 church leaders would attend the conference in February, hosted by Mountain Lake Church in Cumming, Ga. Over 900 people from 33 states and four countries attended! That just goes to prove that the job is not done and it won’t be finished until Christ returns.

There are still people across the nation excited about planting churches, who are energized to go in new directions to reach the lost and who are willing to change the status quo to ensure that everyone hears the gospel. There is nothing wrong with breaking with traditions as long as we never change the message. The method in which the gospel is presented must change with the times in order to stay relevant.

As for me, I’m trying something new this year as well. I will be exploring a brand new river in Panama for Rivers of the World (ROW). I just love heading out into the bush discovering new territory for ROW. I also love it when I see the Church branching out and discovering new terrain.

We must heed the warning in John 9:4 given by Jesus to His disciples:

“As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work.”

All of us are given a measure of time to fulfill the plans and purposes for which we were created. All our labor for the Lord will cease when Christ returns for His people. The job is not done so work while there is still time.

Why aren’t more Presbyterian churches being erected in the KC area? Our son and his family tried for years to find a Presbyterian church closer to them in the north west part of KC, KS in the Desoto area.

Well, the Presbyterian Church is a wreck—fails to take a stand—has no decent direction—and it has lost its missionary fervor—so folks go where they are fed, and it ain’t us!

Wouldn’t you think the “leadership” of the church would wake up??

Since I am PCUSA, I can talk about family, ha!

    Bless ya’ll!!
