Thirst No More
Today, I am thanking the Lord for fast reflexes! I was sipping a cup of tea with a friend of mine at a local coffee shop when I excused myself to go use the restroom. I was wearing a particularly nicely starched blue denim shirt and I had my glasses in my shirt pocket. I turned around to flush the toilet and I didn’t realize that my shirt was so slippery! My glasses fell right into the toilet the very instant that I had pushed the handle to flush the thing.
I was so amazed at how rapidly my hand dove into the toilet to retrieve my glasses! I was able to grab them before they were gone forever! I started shaking my glasses off and then I began laughing. I suddenly realized that in the politically correct world we live in that if somebody walked into the restroom and heard me laughing they would think I was a bit odd!
I stifled my laughing, cleaned my glasses and got out of that restroom! My laughter was because I was so very thankful that the Lord gave me good reflexes that day to grab what I needed so I could see my way through life.
Glasses can help many of us see life better but I know of something else that all of us need. Read John 4:13-14:
“Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.’”
Our most treasured and valuable possession is not anything that we can buy, nor is it family and friends. If we possess the living water of Jesus Christ, we are guaranteed that we will thirst no more. We will have everything that we have need of and then some.
