Turn Passion Into Action

[ 0 ] January 29, 2010 |

I just love the impact radio has on its listeners. I headed to Texas recently to see my friend, Charles Johnson, who listened to the radio and before he knew it, he was headed overseas on a mission trip.

Charles, who lives in Pearsall, just southwest of San Antonio, heard a Rivers of the World (ROW) spot on the radio, got more information about us and learned about a trip scheduled to Vietnam for September 2009. He took part in his first mission trip with four other individuals and has since become a tremendous supporter of ROW. Charles became a dear and precious friend and I never laid eyes on him, until recently.

During my visit to Texas, I ate barbecue, preached the gospel, prayed and shared with others and ate more barbecue! Be careful the next time you turn on the radio because you may hear a ROW spot, be filled with passion to change the world and then I may be showing up at your church!

Seriously, though, if you have been touched by listening to a ROW radio spot, by reading a ROW devotion or simply by reading information on our ROW web site, then I ask you to take that passion within you and put it into action. The first month of 2010 is almost a memory so I urge you to spend the rest of the year being led by the Lord in your giving, loving others and serving, even if that means traveling to a foreign land.

Would you like a good example of how every Christian should live? Read 1 Thessalonians 1:3:

“We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Paul praised the Thessalonians for putting their faith into action. They were not just Christians in name only, they demonstrated their love for Christ by loving and serving others.
