Unchanging Lord

[ 0 ] February 25, 2008 |

If you make your living by traveling often then you can count on a few things that are always constant. You can be certain there will be traffic, road construction and there will always be somebody who decides they are going to have a wreck the day you’re trying to get somewhere important. The other thing you can count on during your travels is seeing friends.

Within the last five days, I have been at First Presbyterian Church in Meridian, Miss., up in the mountains of east Tennessee with folks from First Baptist Church of Dalton, Ga., spoke at a meeting at Georgia Tech in Atlanta and ended my weekend at Covenant Presbyterian Church down in Albany, Ga., located in the southwest corner of the state.

During my travels over the last five days, I encountered those constants. There were wrecks, traffic and lousy weather. The other constant was also prevalent. In each location there were wonderful, precious friends whom I have spent my life with for the last 30 years. We shared our love for the Lord, for this world and for changing the world for Christ.

If your faith is wavering today and you are wondering where God is in your life, let me encourage you to commit to memory Hebrews 13:8, which says:

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”

This means the same God who healed your body last year and the same God who allowed you to wake up this morning is the same God who will provide all that you have need of forevermore. This includes friendship, comfort, encouragement, strength, sound mind and joy beyond measure.
