Vibrant Life

[ 0 ] October 5, 2011 |

Let me ask you something today. Are you wearing out, are you running down or are you simply hibernating on your couch? Is life zipping by you in a whirlwind?

I am so very fascinated as I watch my mother continue to embrace technology. She has gotten an i-Pad and she already knows how to use face time to chat with others. It is just a scream to watch her! She reminds me of my grandmother, who, at the age of 73, decided to finally learn how to cook. At the same time, my grandmother also decided to buy a new car and a television set. She then promptly declared that she would wear them both out!

As if all that were not enough, my grandmother then got a job cooking at the church soup kitchen and it wasn’t long after that all of her friends died. I mean literally, they all died. My dear grandmother just kept going for almost another 20 years because she knew being in her mid-70s didn’t mean a thing! God just wasn’t through with her yet! She kept on going and kept on giving until her Savior called her home.

Isn’t that we should be doing as well? Life is so short and we are only given a brief span of time to work for Jesus and then our lives are over. If you have realized lately that you have been stagnating, I encourage you to get up off that couch and get back in the game. There is still a vast world out there that needs you so go and serve.

If you have rounded that corner of mid-life and are headed toward the finish line, let me remind you of Psalm 92:12-15 (NKJV):

“The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD Shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing, To declare that the LORD is upright; He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

God never intended for His children to reach a point in their lives where they simply coast on into heaven. He does not want us to switch to neutral at any point in our lives. He provides us strength to live a vibrant life until He deems it best for us to come home.
