Voice of Hope
Let me caution you today to be careful about what you say, how you say it and where you say it. Recently I was visiting La Grange, Ky. marrying off Kristin and Brian. I’ve known these kids all their lives so they had no choice but to have me conduct the wedding. After the wedding there was a little reception. I was visiting with somebody when John the carpenter came running up to me and said, “I know your voice! I listen to you on the radio.”
That was shocking to me. Of all the voices in the world why is it that I have such a recognizable voice? Honestly, it’s a lot of fun and it is great to be recognized for my voice. It is also great to know that we all can use our voices in a number of ways.
My challenge to you today is to use your voice to encourage someone, to share the love of Christ with someone and to speak forth the hope that is yours in Jesus Christ.
If we are living our lives in an effort to imitate Christ then others will notice. People will ask why we have joy in the midst of difficult circumstances. We can be the voice of hope that people seek. We are instructed in 1 Peter 3:15 (Amplified):
“But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.”
How can we always be ready to explain to others about the hope we have found in Christ? By daily reading His word, praying and having fellowship with other believers. When we immerse ourselves totally in Jesus we will be ready at a moment’s notice to gently but effectively give an explanation for our hope in Jesus.
