Wait, Hope and Expect
Okay, I confess. I am not very good at waiting. I have a tendency to get quite impatient when I have to wait. There are 1.2 million people living in homes on or near eight rivers in Peru who are waiting to hear about Jesus. These people are also waiting for healthcare and Rivers of the World’s (ROW) answer to this is to build a hospital ship in Iquitos, the largest city in the Peruvian rainforest.
ROW needs your help. In order to complete the hospital ship, we need some engines, a generator and a transmission, which is expected to cost around $85,000. The engines must be made by Caterpillar because we can actually get service and parts for those engines in Peru.
You can imagine how impatient I am becoming knowing these folks are waiting for healthcare and we have the answer that they need but we don’t have the resources yet to meet this need. Will you consider getting involved with ROW in some way in order to end the wait for these folks in Peru?
Most of us don’t enjoy waiting in traffic, in lines and especially waiting for an answer to our prayers. However, God in His infinite wisdom often has a reason for delaying answering our prayers. We read in Psalm 27:14 (Amplified):
“Wait and hope for and expect the Lord; be brave and of good courage and let your heart be stout and enduring. Yes, wait for and hope for and expect the Lord.”
When our immediate needs are not met instantaneously it gives us a chance to increase our faith and trust in God. Waiting on the Lord allows us time to put feet on our faith. Our actions and words must indicate to others that we are waiting expectantly on the Lord to move on our behalf according to His will in answer to our prayers.
