Wait On the Lord

[ 0 ] September 4, 2006 |

Many of our listeners and supporters of Rivers of the World (ROW) have faithfully prayed and followed the progress of the construction of ROW’s newest ship, the Mama Mickie, in the Congo.

She is currently floating along the Sankuru River. The Mama Mickie pushes 500 tons of medicine, Bibles and supplies up the river. She also pulls out of the jungles 800 tons of hardwoods, coffee and cassava, or manioc, a woody shrub that is a staple food item in Africa and other tropical and subtropical regions of the world. This enables our staff in the Congo to remain self-sufficient as they continue to grown their ministry in that part of the world.

Constructing the Mama Mickie was quite a challenge. We had to find an engine for this boat that was powerful enough to transport all the goods and supplies. We finally located an engine in France and had it rebuilt and shipped to the Congo. After being installed in the Mama Mickie, we then had to overcome yet another obstacle—it was the dry season and there was no water in the river! Therefore, we simply had to wait and be patient until the rains came, the river filled with water and then we were in business.

Patience is one fruit of the Spirit that can be very difficult to obtain at times. We live in a society that demands and expects instant gratification and instant results. As Christians, there will be many times in our walk with the Lord that we must simply wait patiently upon Him to move in our situation.

If there is a circumstance in your life that you have been waiting on the Lord to provide an answer or a way out, I encourage you to read about David to learn about the many times God moved and protected him from all his enemies. Let’s follow David’s instructions in Psalm 27:14:

“Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.”
