Walk in Freedom
I just love holidays, don’t you? International Women’s Day was recently celebrated on March 8th. Women from all around the world assemble in cities and towns to commemorate their many achievements. The annual gathering is filled with exciting festivities but for us Christians it is a time to rejoice with a group of women in a particular communist country.
Rivers of the World (ROW) helps to rent a meeting room in a big hotel, which is then decorated with banners and filled with women participating in workshops and celebrating what appears to be International Women’s Day. What is actually taking place is an underground church meeting where hundreds of women are introduced to the Gospel and then led to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, all under the banner of the annual International Women’s Day celebration.
The authorities in this communist country have never caught on and it is just amazing to hear the stories of women who walk miles to come to hear the Gospel. Prior to attending this annual celebration, many of these women walked into the meeting room bound by the cares of this world and utterly lost without Christ. After their encounter with the Lord, they could proclaim as the Psalmist did in Psalm 119:45:
“I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”
If you have accepted Christ as your Savior then you too can walk today in freedom. We have freedom from the sins that once had us chained to this world and we have freedom to become all that Christ created us to be.
