Volunteering with ROW:

There are a number of things that volunteers can do for ROW – either at home or abroad. Here is a list of some of them. Look it over, and then fill out the form and click submit, and one of our staff will get back to you:

Education and Health packets:

Volunteers can put together Education packets, which will be taken overseas and given out by our mission teams. Education packets are gallon sized Ziploc baggies that are filled with paper, pencils, markers, small pencil sharpeners, stickers, sugarless gum, anything like that which will fit and that you think kids will like and will need for school. Some of the kids in Peru that we gave packets to still had them 2 years later!

Health packets are similar to the Education packets, but contain toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, anti-itch cream, antibacterial cream, hair comb or brush, Tylenol, - anything like that which families might need.

And you can include a banner for the children or congregation - with Bible verses, drawings by kids (or adults), whatever. We will give it to the village. And if you include a blank banner, and put your name and address on the back (so we'll remember who sent it), we'll have the kids decorate it and send it back to you.

Please, also include funds to help us ship packets overseas! It costs at least $100 to ship a footlocker to Belize with us. And we can't ship in cardboard boxes - the airlines won't allow it. Send packets to:

THROW chapter!

THROW stands for "Teens Helping ROW." You can start a THROW chapter in your school or in your church youth group. Each year, THROW chapters improve hundreds of lives around the world by raising money through car washes, rose sales, candy sales and other fundraisers. The funds are donated to ROW to help fund missionary trips, fight river blindness, feed the hungry in South America and other global issues.

THROW fundraisers over the past few years we have been able to raise several hundred dollars. Although this figure may appear to be insignificant, it is actually very helpful because to save one person from river blindness it only costs a quarter and the cost for food for a single person in a third world country is only about thirty dollars for a whole year. We would love to help your community start a chapter, if you have any questions feel free to email throw@row.org.

We also have college ROW chapters forming – contact THROW@row.org for more information.

Go With ROW on a mission trip:

Get a group together and go on a mission trip. Look at "Go With ROW" for projects and countries, and then contact Nick to plan the trip. And beginning in summer 2007, we will have trips for individuals who would like to go, but don't have a group. Individuals will need to have a letter of recommendation from their church.

Do you sew or knit?

It can get cold in the jungle at night! We need blankets and baby caps to take overseas. Sew or knit as many as you can, and send them to us, along with funds to help us ship them overseas! Send them to:

River of Prayers!!

We need people to be a part of our "River of Prayers" – to pray regularly for our staff, for those traveling with ROW overseas, for the people we serve, for those who support ROW, and for special challenges and concerns that may arise. You will be added to our special "River of Prayers" email list, and will receive regular updates of prayer concerns. Contact 3 to be a part of this vital part of our ministry!
